Micronutrient deficiency prevention, identification, supplementation, and shortages

Wednesday, March 29, 2023  Micronutrient deficiency, identification and supplementation during an era of shortages: Focus on iron, thiamine, copper and other trace elements in patients dependent on parenteral nutrition. 1. To review the regulation of hematopoiesis and causes of anemia, discuss the prevalence and types of anemia in patients receiving long-term PN and discuss the strategy in treating iron deficiency anemia

3. To review trace element deficiency as it relates to PN component shortages and approaches to managing drug shortages
