  DNS Professional Scholarships

  • The DNS Professional Development Scholarship is designed to assist members in obtaining continuing education (educational programs or post-graduate courses).

  • Four scholarships are available each year. They're awarded twice a year, 2 in spring, and 2 in fall. The application deadline for the fall is Oct 31, 2006 and the spring is May 15, 2007. The first place award is for $1250 and the second place award is $1000. Each DNS member is limited to one scholarship each year.

  • Scholarship criteria include:

  • Membership in ADA and DNS for at least 2 consecutive years prior to application.

  • The program should be at least 30 days after the application deadline.

  • Application deadlines: May 15th and November 15th.

  • The applicant should be employed in a position with responsibilities in the area of nutrition support and the goals to be met by the program should be relevant to the applicant’s professional goals.

  DNS Student Scholarship

  • The DNS Student Scholarship’s purpose is to enable an undergraduate or graduate student in the field of dietetics/nutrition or a dietetic intern/AP4 student to attend the ADA FNCE. Another goal of the scholarship is to foster mentoring of the future leaders of nutrition support dietetics by existing practitioners.

  • One scholarship is available each year, for $250 to pay for the “Affiliate” registration fee for FNCE and other FNCE-related expenses. The recipient must be eligible for this registration category at the time of attendance at FNCE.

  • The student must be nominated by a DNS member, who has been a member of DNS for at least 2 consecutive years prior to the year of application.

  • Application deadline: 90 days prior to FNCE.

  DNS Distinguished Service Award

  • The purpose of this award is to formally recognize each year, a DNS member who has:

  • Demonstrated outstanding leadership in the practice of nutrition support dietetics.

  • Contributed to the advancement of the dietetics practice in the area of nutrition support through research, publication, or education.

  • Qualifications of award nominees:

  • Member of the ADA in good standing.

  • Member of DNS at the time of nomination and presentation of the award.

  • Current members of DNS Nominating Committee and Executive Committee are not eligible for the award.

  • Nominations due to Nominating Chair by August 1st. The award is presented at FNCE each year.

  Two Publications

  • Support Line is a bi-monthly publication: peer reviewed, indexed in Cumulative index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, including continuing professional education articles and opportunities, and a question and answer column (Inquire Here).
  • STAT Line is a member newsletter. STAT Line is published three times a year and includes: membership news, quick response issues, legislative updates, references, and advertising.
