United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS)', Department of Professional Services has developed and continues to develop a rich collection of educational and resource materials. One of the most incredible resources is the Hume-Kauffman Transplantation Library staffed by a health-sciences librarian, Clara A. Myers, M.L.I.S. who can perform searches and find any transplant-related article published within the last 30 days. The library's collection contains more than 1000 books, 500 videos, 75 journals, and 250 newsletters. Be sure to visit www.unos.org

Transplant professionals can direct their patients and families to www.transplantliving.org for information on what to expect before, during and after transplantation. Transplant candidates, recipients and donors can find resources on living donation, support groups and special events.

UNOS' online store has made available many educational resources free of charge to patients and professionals. Some of these educational materials are available in Spanish.

Another helpful resource for transplant professionals is the International Transplant Nurses Society (ITNS). Visit www.itns.org for transplant patient educational materials, many free of charge and available in PDF. You may join ITNS for $50.00 as a non-RN healthcare professionals and enjoy many benefits of this dynamic organization.
