A Big Thank You Goes Out to the 2009-2010 DNS Executive Committee and Coordinating Cabinet!

Dear DNS Members,

As I move into my year as Immediate Past-Chair of DNS, I feel so grateful. I'm grateful to so many people for all their hard work and dedication to our DPG. I'm grateful for all the experiences and opportunities I had this year to enrich DNS and build upon the great strength our DPG already had as a result of all the tremendous leaders that came before me. Most of all I am grateful to you, our members. I was able to be strong this year and represent nutrition support issues on behalf of DNS because of you. Because I knew how hard each one of you works every day for your patients, I had the strength and determination to work hard on your behalf. Because I knew how important having a professional resource that you can count on like DNS  for products, continuing education and networking, I had the determination to be engage with our Executive Committee (EC) and Coordinating Cabinet (CC) to create meaningful products and services that will take your practice to the next level. No one has this kind of success as a single entity. I am indebted to both the EC and CC for all of their expertise and volunteer time.

First, I want to thank the entire EC that I worked with during my Chair year: Mary Hise, PhD, RD, CNSD; Marsha Stieber, MSA, RD, Cindy Hamilton, MS, RD, LD, CNSD, Bob DeChicco, MS, RD, LD, CNSD and Gail Cresci, PhD, RD, CNSD. The following people are outgoing members of the DNS Executive Committee. Please join me in thanking them for their dedicated service:

  • Marsha Stieber, MSA, RD - Former Immediate Past-Chair who has now become our Industry Liaison.
  • Gail Cresci, PhD, RD, CNSD - Former Nominating Committee Chair who will now serve as a member of our Research Committee currently chaired by Carrie Earthman.

Next. I would like to thank the entire Coordinating Cabinet that I worked for the last year. There are too many names to mention but I would like to mention a few outgoing CC members:

  •  Yimin Chen, MS, RD, CNSC - Yimin started out with DNS leadership as a member of the Mentorship Program Committee. She chaired the committee this past year and was elected as incoming Secretary of DNS effective June 1st of this year. Welcome to the EC, Yimin!
  • Mary Russell, MS, RD, LDN, CNSD - Mary has held many positions within DNS leadership; most recently, she was our Industry Liaison. However, she was just elected as the ADA treasurer-elect so she will be moving on to represent DNS at the highest level possible within ADA. Thank you, Mary! We couldn't be more proud of you!

Sincerely,

Jennifer A. Wooley, MS, RD, CNSC
