I am excited to continue in my role as the Public Policy Liaison and to keep DNS members updated every couple of weeks of public policy issues that impact Dietitians in Nutrition Support. This is a very exciting time for dietitians to be involved in public policy initiatives as we are at a critical point in the health care reform debate. Public Policy Update 8/16/10
Weekly On The Pulse updates have been replaced by Eat Right Weekly. This communication is emailed each Wednesday to all ADA members and is a streamlined communication which includes public policy updates formerly provided in On The Pulse.
On August 5th the child nutrition reauthorization act was passed in the Senate. Provisions include expanding nutrition standards to all foods sold in schools and strengthening nutrition education in child nutrition programs. ADA's grassroots efforts were recognized and appreciated by Congress.
