2011 Guidelines for Prevention of Intravascular Catheter-Related Infections
Central venous catheter (CVC) infections can lead to significant increase in cost of hospitalization as well as length of stay. The CDC has estimated that there are 80,000 CVC infections annually in US hospitals.
These guidelines were developed as part of a CVC infection prevention program.
